Library Assessment and Special Tax
The County is divided into five Library Zones of Benefit. The Assessment in Zone D required a simple majority vote. The Special Tax in Zones E, F, G and H required a 2/3 majority vote.
- Zone D - Cameron Park
- In June 1994 a Benefit Assessment was passed by a majority vote. The amount of the assessment is $25 per dwelling unit. There is no sunset on this assessment.
- Zone E - El Dorado Hills
- In March 2002 a Special Tax was approved by 73% of voters. The amount of the tax is $25 per parcel, improved and unimproved. In November 2004 76.5% of the voters approved a measure distinguishing apartment units. The amount of the tax for each apartment unit is $20. There is no sunset on this tax.
- Zone F - South Lake Tahoe
- In March 2005 a Special Tax was approved by 81.5% of voters. The tax is $15 per parcel, improved and unimproved. This tax will sunset in 10 years.
- Zone G - Georgetown
- In March 2005 a Special Tax was approved by 71.6% of voters. The tax is $15 per parcel, improved and unimproved. This tax will sunset in 10 years.
- Zone H - Placerville, Pollock Pines, and the rest of the county

In March and November 2005 a Special Tax was not approved by the voters.
