Why FIVE?  To prevent the “Summer Slide".

One of the simplest ways to prevent learning loss, also known as the “Summer Slide” is by reading.

  • Research suggests that reading just five books over the summer allows kids to maintain, and possibly even strengthen, all the literacy skills they developed during the previous school year.
  • Reading helps kids build their vocabulary, exposes them to new ideas, develops their imagination, and improves critical thinking.
  • Just five books! For most kids, that’s only one book every two weeks.

It takes just a moment to get started.

  1. Click on “LIBRARIES ROCK”
