One-on-One Volunteer Tutoring
We train our tutors in a variety of teaching methods during the ten hour training workshop and follow-up instruction. "Literacy tutoring is one of the most rewarding volunteer experiences you can have. When you help someone learn to read, or to speak and read English, you enable that individual to take advantage of a new world of opportunities. Simply put: Literacy changes lives."

Literacy Action Council
The Literacy Action council is a non-profit, volunteer organization that raises money to help support El Dorado County's various Literacy Programs offered through the Main Library in Placerville. Major fundraisers are the Spring Membership Drive and An Afternoon with the Authors in the Fall.
